A new unit is under construction at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Located behind the emergency department, the new unit will serve Islanders experiencing mental health and addictions issues.
The Mental Health and Addictions Emergency and Short Stay Unit will provide emergency assessments, treatment, short-stay stabilization, support to transition to other community services, and access to an acute bed when needed.
