QUICK HITS | | 👤 There’s a new boss in town: Charlottetown council has appointed Eleanor Mohammed to serve as the city’s next chief administrative officer. As the city’s senior administrator, Mohammed will oversee a municipal budget of over $180M and a team of more than 400 employees. She takes over from interim CAO Donna Waddell, who was appointed to the office after council fired Peter Kelly last May. Waddell had previously retired from the position when Kelly was hired in 2016. Mohammed will begin transitioning into the role next month. | | 🚍 New routes and expanded hours: A year-round route connecting North Rustico to Charlottetown will start this spring, in addition to seasonal transit service to Cavendish and surrounding north shore communities, which resumes mid-June. The province is also working with the Capital Area Transit Coordinating Committee to expand transit in the capital region. Plans include adding new routes and beefing up evening and weekend services on popular routes. A schedule for the North Rustico route is still being finalized. | | 🚧 Road repair packages: The province posted eight road resurfacing tender packages last week for repairs to 28 roads, totalling 26 km. Rather than bore you with all the details here, I plotted the projects on this Google Map so you can easily zoom in to see if your least favourite section of road made the list. |

BUSINESS | Anne of Green Gables trademark dispute | | Anne of Green Gables is heading to court in Manhattan. Sort of.
A New York-based theatrical production company has filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan federal court to settle a trademark dispute over the naming rights to Anne of Green Gables.
Producers of "Anne of Green Gables: A New Musical" are fighting allegations that the production infringes on trademarks belonging to Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority Inc., a company jointly owned by the province of PEI and the heirs of L.M. Montgomery. The authority claims that it is the sole licensing agent for Anne trademarks.
The big city producers have accused Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority of trying to extend its expired copyright in the book through trademark threats. The lawsuit claims that the licensing authority issued a draft version of a trademark infringement complaint and threatened to file it in court if the producers did not rename their musical, which is being developed for Broadway. This story broke Tuesday evening when news of the lawsuit was first reported by Reuters.
