😷 Emergency Leave / Special Leave Fund: Islanders who fall ill to a respiratory-transmitted disease will receive some protection from their employer under modified regulations taking force this weekend. Under the modified Emergency Leave Regulations, employees diagnosed with an eligible disease, such as COVID-19 or influenza, will be protected from being fired for taking time off work, but only if a doctor or nurse practitioner advises them to stay home. The province also extended the COVID-19 Special Leave Fund until March 31. The fund, among other things, reimburses employers who continue to pay staff who take time off to recover from an illness.

👷 ‘Hook 'Em While They're Young’: The PEI Road Builders Association is partnering with the Department of Education to provide some Island students with a simulated look at the world of a heavy equipment operator. Beginning February, students at Colonel Gray and Montague Regional will be able to try out a Vortex Edge Max training simulator (video), an all-in-one piece of equipment that gives the student experience in operating six pieces of heavy machinery, including an excavator, bulldozer and backhoe. ⛽ Some Relief at the Pumps: Gas, diesel and furnace oil are each down 5 cents per litre today after IRAC posted an unscheduled price adjustment. The maximum price for gas is now 153.8 cpl, diesel is 258.5 cpl, and 169.7 cpl for furnace oil.

🎤 Island Choral Society: PEI's newest classical choir performs a mix of Christmas classics, featuring Vivaldi's beloved Gloria, along with seasonal favourites, and a good old-fashioned audience sing-along. St. Paul's Anglican Church @ 7:30PM.

🤘 BIG HUGE and STRUCK: Back by popular demand, BIG HUGE and STRUCK will perform Christmas classics at Sportsmans Club. Fun door prizes, and prizes for the best ugly Christmas sweater. Show starts at 10:30PM / $10 at the door.

Saturday 10th

⛪ Christmas Craft Sale:  St. Paul's Anglican Church is hosting a Christmas craft sale from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission will be a non-perishable food item. and all monies collected from venders will go to St. Paul's Anglican Church

☕ A Merry Mini Holiday Market: 5th Wave Espresso & Tea Bar, 181 Queen St, is hosting a mini holiday market from 10AM - 2PM. Local vendors and delicious warm beverages. More Info

🕯️ Stratford Community Choir:  Light a Candle for Hope, hosted by Stratford Community Choir, takes place at Spring Park United Church @ 3:00PM. Enjoy your favourite Christmas songs with audience participation. Admission is $15 per-person, or $20 for the family.

Sunday 11th

🌲 Artisan Christmas Market: Tis the season to love local! The Artisan Christmas Market at the Charlottetown Farmers' Market will showcase creations by several local artisans and makers. Free entry and parking.
